Black Sabbath Inducted Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
It was long overdue, but heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath were 2006 inductees into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. After being finalists for 8 years, the legendary band was finally chosen. Black Sabbath was inducted into the hall of fame by Metallica's James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. Ulrich said, "When you say Heavy Metal, you might as well say, 'Music derivative of Black Sabbath.'" Metallica then performed Sabbath's songs "Hole In The Sky" and "Iron Man."
Sabbath released a ton of great albums throughout their career, and I compiled my list of The Top 5 Black Sabbath Albums.
Others in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame class of 2006 include the Sex Pistols, Blondie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Miles Davis, Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss. According to information posted on the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's website, artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria considered includes the influence and significance of the artist's contribution to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is located in Cleveland, Ohio.
