Judas Priest Reviews: The Essential Judas Priest CD and Live Vengeance '82 DVD

Judas Priest has been very prolific the past couple of years. They've already released a new CD and a live DVD from that tour. Now they delve into their back catalog. There are already several Judas Priest greatest hits collections out there, but this one is one of the best. It is 2 CDs with over 30 songs. It spans most of the band's career, from 1976's Sad Wings Of Destiny to 2005's Angel Of Retribution. All their biggest hits are included, along with several other singles and quality album cuts. It's remarkable when a band has enough of a back catalog that it can have over 30 songs on a collection without a single filler or throwaway song. It's a worthwhile addition to any Priest fan's collection.

The DVD was originally released years ago on VHS format. They haven't added anything substantial to it, it's basically the original concert from 1982. It's an interesting snapshot of a metal band at their peak. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 25 years since that concert was filmed. The good thing is that Priest is still at it today and making great music.
