Queensryche - Take Cover Review

Take Cover tackles songs from several different genres and eras. It kicks off with Pink Floyd's "Welcome To The Machine" and immediately takes a left turn with a song from the Broadway musical Jesus Christ Superstar. Geoff Tate gets a chance to show off his chops with the opera song "Odissea," which is in Italian. My favorite tracks are the '80s covers: "Synchronicity II" by The Police, "Red Rain" from Peter Gabriel, and a live version of U2's "Bullet The Blue Sky" closes the album. Queensryche also covers Queen, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and Black Sabbath.

The band does a good job of putting the Queensryche spin on the songs, but without completely losing the original intent and spirit of the tracks. These types of albums are just filler in between studio albums, but there are enough interesting songs on Take Cover to make it worthwhile for Queensryche fans.
