2007 Grammy Nominations

Thursday December 6, 2007
The Grammys don't have much to offer heavy metal fans, but there are a couple categories that are of interest:

Best Hard Rock Performance (For solo, duo, group or collaborative performances, with vocals. Singles or Tracks only.)
Evanescence - "Sweet Sacrifice" from The Open Door (Wind-up Records)
Foo Fighters - "The Pretender" (Roswell/RCA Records)
Ozzy Osbourne - "I Don't Wanna Stop" from Black Rain (Epic)
Queens Of The Stone Age - "Sick, Sick, Sick" from Era Vulgaris (Interscope Records)
Tool - "The Pot" from 10,000 Days (Volcano)

Best Metal Performance (for solo, duo, group or collaborative performances, with vocals. Singles or Tracks only.)
As I Lay Dying - "Nothing Left" from An Ocean Between Us (Metal Blade Records)
King Diamond - "Never Ending Hill" from Give Me Your Soul...Please (Metal Blade Records)
Machine Head - "Aesthetics Of Hate" from The Blackening (Roadrunner Records)
Shadows Fall - "Redemption" from Threads Of Life (Atlantic)
Slayer - "Final Six" from Christ Illusion (American Recording/Columbia)

Slayer won last year for "Eyes Of The Insane," and since Christ Illusion was re-released in 2007 are eligible again. Metallica was also nominated in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for "The Ecstasy Of Gold."

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Feb. 10, 2008, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
