Danava - Unonou Review

Friday February 22, 2008
Danava's new CD is a step up from their 2006 self-titled release. Unonou still has a retro, psychedelic vibe, but the band's songwriting has improved. They incorporate thick stoner metal style guitar riffs with synths that really give Danava a distinctive sound.

There are also a lot of progressive elements on this CD. The songs are mostly long ones, with the last track clocking in at over 13 minutes. There are some very sophisticated arrangements, which contrast nicely to the raw, fuzzy guitars. It does get a bit self-indulgent at times, but Unonou will have a lot of appeal to those who like their stoner metal a little on the proggy side.
