Black Tide - Light From Above Review

Light From Above is '80s fueled, hook laden metal/hard rock. The songs are gritty and groovy, showcasing excellent musicianship and accessible songwriting. Thrashy riffs and blazing solos are balanced by memorable melodies and catchy choruses. Black Tide's sound blends the early thrash of groups like Metallica with more mainstream and glitzier bands like Skid Row.

It takes guts to cover a legendary group like Metallica on your debut album, but they do a serviceable job on "Hit The Lights." Black Tide has plenty of room for growth and improvement, especially in the lyric department, but their raw talent and potential is evident on Light From Above.
