Apocalyptica - Worlds Collide Review

Monday April 21, 2008
Apocalyptica likes to feature lots of guest musicians on their albums, and this one is no exception. Lending their talents to Worlds Collide are Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia, Three Days Grace's Adam Gontier, Rammstein's Til Lindemann and drummer Dave Lombardo from Slayer.

Apocalyptica blends the classical sound of cellos with heavier and more bombastic metal elements. There's also an industrial vibe on a few of the songs. I actually like the instrumentals better than the songs with guest vocalists because they have more of a unique sound. The tracks with vocals are very catchy (especially the German language cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" by Til Lindemann), but sound like any other metal band. If you're into Apocalyptica's sound, Worlds Collide should satisfy you. If you've never heard the band and want to explore something a little different, it's also well worth checking out.
