Guitarist Michelle Meldrum Passes Away
Meldrum had just completed writing and recording the band's soon to be released album with drummer Gene Hoglan, along with the new lineup Michele Madden (vocals) and Laura Christine (bass). The surviving band members plan to release the album later this year in tribute to their fallen bandmate.
Michelle Meldrum was born in Detroit, Michigan to a family of musicians and actors. At 13, Meldrum moved to Los Angeles, California and started her career in music by forming the thrash metal band Wargod with drummer Gene Hoglan (Death, Strapping Young Lad). Meldrum later was the co-founder and lead guitarist in the all girl metal/rock band Phantom Blue.
After Phantom Blue disbanded, Meldrum moved to Sweden and formed her current band Meldrum. She reunited with Hoglan in 2006. Inspired to once again collaborate, Meldrum moved back to America where she and Hoglan began writing the third Meldrum album together.
Meldrum, 39 is survived by her parents and three year old son, Jake Thomas. A memorial tribute benefit will be announced in the following weeks. Our condolences as well to the family, friends and bandmates of this very talented musician that was taken much too soon.

That’s sad, I remember seeing them several years ago before Black Label Society – she rocked out.
R.I.P.
Well, that really sucks to hear about! My condolences to her family, friends and fans. She will be missed. RIP,
R.I.P. …and far away hills look greener still but they all slip away, it is then i’ll be returning, am coming home to stay…
i saw them at the House of Booze in Hollywood a few years ago. They were way more entertaining than the headline act! Those girls rocked, put Black label society to shame.
RIP
