Best Heavy Metal Albums Of 1986
Wednesday July 16, 2008
1986 was the best year of the '80s when it came to heavy metal albums. It was the year of Metallica's Master Of Puppets, Megadeth's Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? and Slayer's Reign In Blood. There were also several other great releases from bands like Kreator, Bathory, Candlemass and Iron Maiden. Thrash ruled in 1986, but a few other genres made the Top 10 as well. What did rate as number 1? You may disagree with my list, and if you do make sure to post your comments and picks in the comments section.

Yeah, I agree that Reign in Blood is more like 1-B than 2.
Master of Puppets has always been one of my favorite Metallica albums of all-time. The single Master of Puppets is also one of the tracks that made me buy their album. I would just like to know how many sales have their St. Anger album made?
I agree, that this was maybe metal’s greatest year! Still, what may sound like nit-picking, but Awaken The Guardian definately belongs on one level with Master of Puppets and Reign in Blood to form the trinity of the best metal albums ever made! Then a notch below their (slightly) lesser equivalents respectively made by Heir Apparent (this might be tough to get, though), Megadeth and Dark Angel. There are certainly more ( Rage For Order, anyone?) but this Six alone are a mind-blower. It just tells you how great Eighty-Six was when Maiden’s Sixth album isn’t even a candidate for the top spots!
