Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone Tops Chart
Thursday September 4, 2008
For the first time in their career, Slipknot had a CD debut at the top of the Billboard Top 200 chart. It was a unique week for the chart, as The Game was originally announced as this week's top seller by a scant 13 copies. The record company requested a recount, and the new numbers showed Slipknot's All Hope Is Gone sold 239,516 CDs its first week in stores, pulling ahead of The Game by over 1,000 copies. It also sold well across the world, with #1 debuts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland, #2 in Belgium, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom, and a #3 debut in Norway.
All of Slipknot's previous albums have all been certified platinum or better, as have their DVDs. It looks like their latest is headed for that milestone as well. The band has also been nominated for six Grammy awards, having won "Best Metal Performance" in 2006 for "Before I Forget."
