A-Lex is Sepultura's second concept album in a row. Their last one was inspired by Dante's Inferno. This time around Sepultura created a concept around Anthony Burgess' book A Clockwork Orange, which was made into an outstanding movie directed by Stanley Kubrick.
Musically A-Lex is Sepultura's trademark intense thrash metal, tempered by instrumental interludes. They've skillfully integrated tribal percussion into their sound over the years, and that continues here on tracks such as "Filthy Rot." They show a lot of versatility on "Sadistic Value," which starts slowly with Derrick Green singing melodically. His vocals quickly get harsher as the music builds in intensity, eventually speeding up into balls out thrash.

I dont like this or the previous album.
Sepultura is dead . … sadly.
It’s nice to read a review written in gramatically correct English. Most metal review sites I trolled before finding this one used phrases like “pretty alright”, and generally mocked all attempts at using spell check.
I enjoyed this album as a stand-alone piece. I agree that it sounds a lot like the three albums proceeding (less like Nation, which is my least favorite Sepultura album) it.
