The Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards have been going on for years in Europe, and now the U.S. will get its own heavy metal/hard rock awards show. The first annual Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards will take place Tuesday, April 7 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. The ceremony will be broadcast on MTV2 as a one-hour special debuting Saturday, May 2.

Hosted by actor/comic Brian Posehn (“The Sarah Silverman Program”), the Golden Gods Awards will have performances from Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, All That Remains, Suicide Silence and a special guest to be announced soon. Ozzy Osbourne will receive a lifetime achievement award, and tons of metal luminaries will make an appearance, including Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, Glenn Danzig, Maynard James Keenan of Tool and Puscifer, Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson of Testament, Protest The Hero, Marta Peterson from Bleeding Through, Isis, Brendon Small from Dethklok, WWE wrestler CM Punk and many more.

In addition to the awards show special, MTV2 will have other programming relating to the Golden Gods Awards leading up to the May 2nd broadcast. Here's a schedule:
Saturday, April 25 - MTV2 will air a one-hour nominee special.
Week of April 27 - A one-hour daily strip of Headbangers Ball hosted by Sirius’ Jose Mangin featuring special guests and performances.
Saturday, May 2 - MTV2 will air a one-hour Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods special.
