Five Finger Death Punch - War Is The Answer Review

Friday September 25, 2009
War Is The Answer combines thrashy riffs with accessible hooks and a bit of a nu-metal vibe. Some songs are very mainstream and modern rock sounding, such as the radio-friendly tracks “Crossing Over” and “Far From Home.” Ivan Moody has a good melodic singing voice, but on songs like that, Five Finger Death Punch sounds like any of a million generic rock bands.

They are much more effective with harder edged songs like “Falling In Hate” and “Burn It Down,” which have prominent guitars, harsh vocals and a darker vibe, but still plenty of groove. Five Finger Death Punch blends both styles on many tracks, such as “My Own Hell” and “Bulletproof.” Heavy guitars and harsh vocals alternate with melodic singing and catchy choruses.

This album is less aggressive then their first. I think its hard to sell ballads when your name is Five Finger Death Punch. The more aggressive songs save this album. Moody has an excellent voice, but needs to keep it more aggressive.

I think the less aggressive songs just shows the bands ability to do more than just one style. I to like the darker nastier stuff, but, there has been a noteable progression, like more technical riffs. I still think this band stands out as a different kind of metal band. I am actually flying home a day early from my Guitar Hero Tournament Tour to go see these guys with my son in Louisville Oct 18th.

Hey i would like to start by saying i am a knuckle head and i love FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH i will say I like the album THE WAY OF THE FIST more then i liked the album WAR IS THE ANSWER because THE WAY OF THE FIST was more aggressive, to me it really doesn’t matter because i am still a and what people commented on earlier are right, the new album WAR IS THE ANSWER does show that FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has the ability to play any style of ROCK (I went to you consert at The Glass house you guess rocked out THANKS FOR PLAYING “THE BLEEDING” AT THE END OF THE CONCERT

Ivan is a great singer, and the fact that he can go from the more harsh vocal bits to a great melodic singing voice simply proves how much talent and skill he has been gifted.

I have been listening to these fellas since their debut of “the bleeding” on headbangers ball. I have been jamming to them ever since. A lot of reviews on here are right about ‘the way of the fist’ being more edgy than ‘war is the answer’ but that in no way translates into them being softer. There are a lot of other bands out there that have had songs with deeper meaning on the sophomore. I think this band has a lot to say. Several tracks on the new album kick you straight in the teeth but others make you sit back and contemplate the deeper meaning. All things considered, this album is a 10!!! Ang go see them in concert!!!
