5 Questions With... is your chance to get to know a new or up-and-coming metal band. Denial Fiend hail from Florida, and their second full-length CD is Horror Holocaust. Guitarist Sam Williams introduces us to his band.

Give us a brief history of the band.
We started a few years ago after playing together in a few different studio projects. We put out our first record They Rise on Ibex Moon records in 2007. We did a lot of touring and then took a break. We had a lineup shift and recorded a new record called Horror Holocaust.

How has your sound evolved from They Rise to Horror Holocaust?
From our inception we've always sounded a bit different. They Rise was kind of based in death metal, but had a lot of other elements as well. It was definitely a fun record, but also kind of loose. The new album is much tighter in every aspect. It's also quite a bit faster. Many reviewers have said it sounds more based in thrash metal, although the death metal and punk influences are still there. Our vocalist Blaine from the legendary crossover band the Accused, has one of the most unique and identifiable vocal styles in the history of underground music. The addition of that alone has made a big difference in our sound from the last record.

What has the response to the album been like so far?
So far, overwhelmingly positive. Most people really dig the new direction. It's much more focused. And people seem to be responding to that.

What has been your most memorable Denial Fiend live show, and what are your upcoming live show/tour plans?
There were a lot of cool shows on the European tour we did. I recall a show in Italy where a fight broke out with our roadie and someone in the audience. That was pretty memorable. We did some shows in England with Extreme Noise Terror (RIP Phil). Those were really great.

Anything else you'd like to mention or promote?
We really hope to get out and play a lot after the album comes out. Please come check us out. And hit us up on facebook: www.facebook.com/denialfiendband
