Every Friday I turn the blog over to Dan Marsicano for his Retro Recommendation, giving you a chance to learn about underrated and overlooked gems from metal's past. In November, we are spotlighting New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) bands. This week Satan, a band who came to the NWOBHM party a couple years later than some of their contemporaries, are featured. Their 1983 debut Court In The Act is this week's Retro Recommendation.

NWOBHM was (and is) a very infuential musical movement. It gave us many great bands – often who did not get the recognition they derserved given the competition at the time.

I think we can put Satan in that category along with others such as Venom who as well as NWOBHM were credited with the whole doom/black metal thing. Here’s more about venom:

The New Wave of British Heavy Metal is still alive and well with quite a few bands of the day reforming and recoding. Angelwitch for example. And there’s a whoe stage dedicated to NWOBHM at the upcoming Hard Rock Hell Festival featuring Tytan, More, Soldier etc.
