5 Questions With Slam One Down

5 Questions With... is your chance to get to know a new or up-and-coming metal band. Slam One Down hail from New York, and recently released their debut album Who Really Wants To Live Forever. Guitarist J.R. introduces us to his band.

Give us a brief history of Slam One Down.
We have been together for about three or four years. Bobby and I were in a NYC hardcore band together called 4 in the Chamber and wanted more of a true heavy metal style that is intense, yet you can still sing and move to it, with a live show that is just plain old fun. We recruited Roach from the internet and Shane was part of our circle of friends who just finished up with two bands at the time.

How would you describe the style/sound of Who Really Wants To Live Forever?
There are many influences, from traditional heavy metal and thrash, with some hardcore and tons of groove. You'll here some 12 string acoustic guitars, heavy metal anthems, brutality and screams and some ballads.

What has the response been like so far?
The live shows are always the best party around. We have been added in rotation of quite a few metal radio stations and its exciting.

What are your upcoming show/tour plans?
We are working really hard to getting on bigger and better shows with larger crowds and bigger acts. At every show you are gonna drink too much with us so I cannot let anyone know any of our secrets at what goes on behind closed doors.

Anything else you'd like to mention or promote?
Tell everyone you know about the record...support the underground!
