As we begin our eighth year of selecting each month's best new metal releases, 2013 is kicking off on a high note. Picking the best five out of the over 70 albums we reviewed this month was a tough task. There were some really good releases, and even though it's early in the year, I think you will probably be seeing a couple of these in many year-end lists. In a close-fought battle, Voivod just edged out Cult Of Luna. Check out our selections for January's best new metal CDs.
