The Story Of Judas Priest: Defenders Of The Faith

Omnibus Press
Judas Priest has always been one of the more interesting bands in metal. Their long history, millions of albums sold and internal band drama makes them a good subject for a biography. Neil Daniels didn't have the permission or cooperation of the band to write this book, but that actually allowed him to be more impartial.

The source material for The Story Of Judas Priest: Defenders Of The Faith includes previously published interviews with existing band members along with interviews of former members. Daniels was able to speak with original vocalist Al Atkins, former vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens a bunch of other former Priest members. They provide some very interesting insight, especially of the early days of the band.

From the multiple lineup changes to massive worldwide success to several internal and external problems within the band, this book does an excellent job chronicling the interesting history of one of the world's great metal bands. There's also an extensive appendix which includes a band chronology, lineup history, discography and list of every tour and live date the band has ever played. The Story Of Judas Priest: Defenders Of The Faith is a well-written and well-researched book.
