Run For Cover: The Art Of Derek RiggsAardvark Global Publishing
The advent of the digital age in music has brought a lot of changes, some good and and some bad. One of the bad changes is the loss of importance of album cover art. When you download an album either the album cover isn't there at all or it's a tiny icon on your MP3 player. That means the fantastic work of artists like Derek Riggs won't be seen as much as in the past.

Riggs is the creator of "Eddie," one of the best known metal icons of all time and the mascot of Iron Maiden. Run For Cover tells his story and the story of his art. Martin Popoff does a great job of uncovering the stories behind the album covers. It's a fascinating look at how the creative process works and the impact Riggs' work had on the success of Iron Maiden.

In addition to the great biographical information, the showcase of this book is the art. It's an oversized book so the pictures are large, and there are tons of them. You'll see the artwork of many Iron Maiden albums along with previously unpublished works and other things Riggs has done over the years. In addition to Maiden he has done artwork for groups such as Stratovarious, Bruce Dickinson and Gamma Ray.

This is a book that will appeal to fans of Iron Maiden and their memorable album covers. It will also appeal to those who appreciate art and may not be fans of metal. It's a worthwhile collection of a great artist and creator of an unforgettable music icon.
