Almah - Edu FalashiCandlelight Records
The artist and title for this CD seem reversed. This is the first solo CD from Angra singer Edu Falaschi. But the name of the band he's put together is Almah and the title is his name. Falashi has put together an all star group including guitarist Emppu Vuorinen from Nightwish, bassist Lauri Porra from Stratovarius and drummer Casey Grillo from Kamelot. There's also a guest appearance from Queensryche's Mike Stone.

Edu Falashi has similarities to Angra, but has its own style. There are elements of power, progressive and traditional metal in Almah's sound. There's a nice blend of upbeat, bombastic songs with plenty of ripping guitar solos and riffs along with slower and softer ballads.

This is a concept album involving different emotions and behaviors with a lot of historical events used to illustrate those different emotions. Falashi has a great voice, powerful and emotional. He cranks it up to full power on the fast songs, and then dials it back and sings with more warmth and passion on the ballads. This is an album Angra fans will definitely dig, but it also appeals to a wider audience.
