Fragile Equality is a well-crafted power metal CD. The songs are painstakingly constructed with big bombastic riffs, plenty of atmospheric keyboards and an ample supply of melody. Everyone is given a chance to showcase their abilities, with lengthy instrumental sections that especially allow the guitarists a share of the spotlight.
This CD seems a little more theatrical and cinematic than Almah's debut. The musicianship, passion and arrangements are all pushing the envelope a bit further. There's also some variety, such as "Invisible Cage," which features acoustic guitars and strings before kicking into full blown metal.
Falaschi is an excellent vocalist. He tailors his style to fit the music, and goes from reserved crooning to regular melodic singing to belting out the high notes in true power metal fashion. He utilizes many different textures and intensities to create a well rounded performance.
Fragile Equality is a step forward for Almah. The songs are more memorable than on their debut, and now that they are a full-time band could soon become a force in the power metal scene.
