Beneath The Sky - What Demons Do To SaintsVictory Records
Before I started playing this CD I checked the credits and was immediately filled with dread. One of the members of Beneath The Sky plays a keytar, a keyboard that's played like a guitar that was hugely popular in the new wave days of the '80s. Once the music started my fears were put to rest. Beneath The Sky definitely does not play '80s synth pop, they play a brand of metal that's both melodic and extreme.

What Demons Do To Saints is the debut full-length from the Cincinnati, Ohio band. It runs the gamut from death metal blast beats to metalcore breakdowns to alt rock melodies. They incorporate influences of metal, grindcore, industrial, doom and rock. The songs are really diverse, and go from a melodic radio friendly chorus into brutal and extreme metal.

The vocals on the CD are also really diverse. You'll hear everything from melodic singing to hardcore shoutalongs to death metal growls to black metal shrieks. And the synths (keytar) add an extra layer of atmosphere to the whole package. Beneath The Sky are a talented band with a lot of potential.
