Blood Red Throne - Come Death

Earache Records
This is the fourth full-length studio album from the Norwegian death metal band Blood Red Throne. Founder/guitarist Tchort (Emperor, Green Carnation) is still there, but the band has a new drummer (Anders Haave) and also replaced vocalist Mr. Hustler with Vald (Goatlord).

For Come Death, Blood Red Throne takes a more classic death metal approach. The songs are straightforward, but very groovy with some great thrash riffs. They are aggressive and brutal, but still have plenty of melody and catchiness. There are also some black metal influences in their music. In addition to their own material they decided to cover the Gorguts song "Disincarnated," and put their own twist on it.

Blood Red Throne's new vocalist also makes for a slightly different sound. Vald doesn't have the raw power of Mr. Hustler, but he uses a variety of pitches and approaches which makes for a more varied vocal performance. If you like death metal in the vein of groups like Death, Morbid Angel and Obituary, Blood Red Throne is a band you'll want to check out.
