Even with the length of time between albums and a different vocalist, Darkane doesn't lose a step on Demonic Art. The Swedes continue their brand of melodic thrash, blending European thrash with Scandinavian melodic death metal.
Songs like "Demigod" have a very modern feel with crisp drums, measured guitars and a lot of melody. Darkane cranks up the extremity on "Impetous Constant Chaos" that gallops along at lightning speed, but still find room for hooks. "Execution 44" begins with a grand intro featuring mellow and orchestrated parts, then about 90 seconds in, blasts off.
Broman's vocals are equal to or maybe even slightly better than Sydow's. His melodic singing is solid, and his thrash yells and harsher growls are powerful and dynamic. He's a solid addition to the band.
With all the great Swedish bands, Darkane has been overlooked by a lot of metal fans, but Demonic Art shows they are a force to be reckoned with, and hopefully they'll get the next album out a little quicker to continue their momentum.
