Sometimes a band comes together, everything clicks right away and they release their debut album. Other times it takes a while. For the Polish band Deivos, it took nearly a decade between their formation and the release of their full-length debut. After originally being released in their native Poland in 2006, it has been picked up for worldwide release by Metal Mind Productions.
Emanation From Below is punishing death metal. The songs are brutal, yet technical. Monstrous riffs, thundering drums and squealing solos steamroll through 7 songs in just over half an hour. Deivos is a pretty traditional sounding death metal band in the vein of groups like Immolation and Decapitated. They have good chops and their songwriting is more than adequate.
There's not a lot that makes Emanation From Below stand out from the death metal masses, but there are some good riffs and technical playing that make it a CD death metal fans should enjoy.
