Despised Icon - The Ills Of Modern ManCentury Media Records
Despised Icon's latest effort was once again produced by Yannick St. Amand (Beneath The Massacre, Neuraxis), but he is no longer a member of the band. He has been replaced by guitarist Al Glassman, and the American is already learning French to fit in with his Montreal, Canada based bandmates.

The Ills Of Modern Man is Despised Icon's third album, and with each release they are refining their style of extreme metal. The songs combine blast beats and breakdowns, a mixture of death metal and grindcore. Pummeling assaults evolve into slower, more melodic grooves before taking off again. They keep things interesting with interesting guitar riffs, multiple tempo changes and of course monstrous breakdowns.

Despised Icon has two vocalists as well, as Alex Erian and Steve Marois bellow, scream and growl using different styles and pitches. They also have some hardcore style shoutalong choruses. The Ills Of Modern Man is technical, brutal, and most important, memorable.
