Dew Scented - Incinerate

Dew Scented - IncinerateNuclear Blast Records
On their seventh album, the German band Dew-Scented doesn't deviate much from their previous work, but when something works there's no need to reinvent a new sound. They combine blazing old school thrash with death metal into an extreme slice of metal.

Incinerate is relentless, with wave after wave of lightning fast riffs and punishing blast beats. The guitar work and interplay between Hendrik Bache and Flo Mueller is very good and they showcase a few creative solos in addition to the thrashy riffs.

The vocals of Leif Jensen are intense and aggressive. They are mostly high pitched in the vein of screamo, but he also lowers the pitch a few times into a death metal growl. Dew-Scented are very technically skilled (especially the guitarists), but there is a lack of real memorable songs. They are decent, but there aren't a huge amount of catchy hooks that would really make the music stand out. It's still a solid but not spectacular thrash/death album.
