Allegory combines elements of thrash, death and progressive metal. The songs twist and turn with constant changes. Thrash riffs intensify into crushing death metal before easing up into a groovy progressive jam. Divinity showcases excellent musicianship, but their technical prowess doesn't overshadow the intrinsic catchiness of the songs.
The vocals are also very diverse. You'll hear everything from low-pitched death metal growls to aggressive yells to melodic singing. Sometimes there is singing where you'd expect growling, and vice versa. The production on the CD is also stellar, with the mixing and mastering done by studio wizard Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Dark Tranquillity). Allegory is an engaging debut, and Divinity is a band to keep an eye (and ear) on.
