His latest effort is Cursing Your Will To Live, a nihilistic dose of dark and bitter black metal. The songs are raw and old school, but have some really catchy parts and grooves. There's a definite rock influence buried deep beneath the hate and anger. The songs are long, with some extended instrumental sections and a couple songs, including the title track, that clock in at nearly 10 minutes.
Wrath's vocals are diverse and really effective. He can do the typical black metal rasp, but also uses high pitched emotional screams that are sometimes angry, sometimes desperate. The one thing that didn't work for me was "Under A Broken Cross I Buried Your World," an interlude that is mainly sound effects and screamed vocals without much musical accompaniment. It would have been cool for a minute or two, but by the end of six minutes it gets really tedious. Other than that, Cursing Your Will To Live is an engaging and compelling black metal album.
