Dream Evil - UnitedCentury Media Records
Since their last release the Swedish band Dream Evil has had a couple of lineup changes. The major one is the departure of guitarist Gus G (Firewind), who was replaced by Mark Black.

United is Dream Evil's fourth full-length CD, and is prototypical power metal. The songs are very melodic with blazing dual guitars and catchy choruses. Dream Evil's musicianship is still outstanding, but the lyrics are awful.

Niklas Isfeldt has a voice with a lot of power and range and the usual vibrato that seems to be a requirement for a power metal vocalist. He delivers the lyrics with conviction, but they are so cheesy it's almost laughable. The band also does a cover version of "My Number One," which was the winning song in Eurovision 2005 and originally done by Greek artist Helena Paparizou. Dream Evil metals it up the best they can, but it's still a horrendously bad song.

Dream Evil is a bit over the top and campy, but they are truly excellent musicians and even though a little cheesy is still an enjoyable metal CD.
