To honor their 20th anniversary, Dream Theater embarked on a world tour that culminated at Radio City Music Hall in New York. It was a nearly three hour extravaganza and part of it was backed by the 30 piece Octavarium Orchestra.
This 3 CD set along with a companion DVD set chronicle that April 1, 2006 concert. Their most recent CD Octavarium is of course well represented, but the concert spans the entirety of the legendary progressive metal band's career. Dream Theater's musicianship is flawless, and the orchestra really complements their sound, especially on the 40 minute "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence." They also do a 30 minute version of "Octavarium" which really cuts down on the number of songs.
Dream Theater puts on a great concert, and this one is especially noteworthy. It's not the type of collection that will get someone into the band, but those who are already fans of DT will really enjoy this 3 CD set.
