Fairytale Abuse - Perversions Of Angel VI

Blistering Records
The Danish black metal band Fairytale Abuse has been toiling in the underground for a long time. They formed back in 1995 and have self-released several demos and a couple CDs, but have finally signed to a record label and are getting a proper release.

Perversions Of Angel VI is melodic black metal in the vein of bands like Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth. It has dark and harsh black metal elements, and also a plethora of melody and waves of keyboards and orchestrated sections.

Guitars and keyboards are the primary focus, but the drumming is also very skilled, and it's nice to hear the bass turned up where it's actually audible.

Since they've been around so long it's no surprise Fairytale Abuse is very smooth and polished. The songs flow together well, and the production is top notch. It's a CD that's heavy and extreme, but also has intricate and detailed arrangements. If you're into bands like Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir, Perversions Of Angel VI follows down the musical road those bands paved.

(released November 4, 2008 on Blistering Records)
