Flatline - Pave The Way

Stand And Deliver Records
Los Angeles, California's Flatline combine old school thrash with melodic death and other extreme genres. Pave The Way is not a very accurate title, because they are definitely following a well worn path, not blazing new trails.

Flatline glides smoothly and effectively down that path, unleashing galloping thrash riffs and solos that slow down into a powerful groove. Songs like "Generations Fall" have that ebb and flow of fast thrash and slower groove oriented sections.

Flatline stretches their boundaries on "God As My Witness, with mellow acoustic guitar and whispered vocals intensifying into aggressive modern metal.

The vocals on Pave The Way are generally aggressive yells with a little bit of melodic singing from time to time. The singing adds some variety, but isn't the band's strong suit.

Flatline does a nice job mixing things up and bringing both old and new school influences to the table. They've got the variety and musicianship down, and just need to add a few more hooks to make their songs more memorable.
