The Funeral Pyre - The Nature Of BetrayalProsthetic Records
Originally released last year, the second album from The Funeral Pyre has been picked up and re-released by Prosthetic Records. The Funeral Pyre are an L.A. area band who combine Scandinavian style melodic death metal with black metal.

The Nature Of Betrayal utilizes piano and synths very effectively to add atmosphere and mood to their brutal, yet melodic songs. The songs can be cold and intense with vicious riffs and a methodical style, but The Funeral Pyre is versatile and can also play music with more emotion and groove.

The vocals on the album are a combination of low pitched death metal growls and higher pitched black metal rasps. There's not a lot of variety in intensity, but the pitch varies a little, and the music changes often enough to hold interest. You'll hear influences of groups like Dark Tranquillity, At The Gates and Dissection in The Funeral Pyre's sound.
