Gorgoroth - Pentagram

Regain Records
Regain Records is re-releasing Gorgoroth's first three full-length CDs. It's not the first time the Norwegian black metal band's debut has been re-released. After originally coming out in 1994, various labels issued versions of Pentagram in 1996, 1999 and 2005.

Pentagram is traditional black metal: raw, straightforward and blasphemous. Gorgoroth's debut has a surprising amount of diversity for an album of the genre. They mix fast and intense blast beat heavy songs with mid-tempo and more melodic tracks and even slow, majestic moments.

Gorgoroth's original vocalist was Hat, who has a very high-pitched rasp which is a bit of an acquired taste. Even though there were a ton of Norwegian black metal bands emerging and flourishing during this era, Gorgoroth managed to carve out their place in the genre.
