It's difficult to nail down an exact description of Graveworm's sound, but gothic black metal is a good start. Keyboards add that layer of dark atmosphere to the music that has a cold black metal edge. Depending on the song the music can be extreme or very melodic and accessible. The album is bookended by instrumentals that are effective as an introduction and a coda.
Stefan Fiori is Graveworm's vocalist, and his main style is a black metal rasp, but he also uses a lower death metal style growl. You'll hear some melodic vocals, too, as well as guest appearances from Maurizio Iacono of Kataklysm and Matze from The Sorrow. If you're a fan of '80s music and movies you might remember the Bonnie Tyler song "Holding Out For A Hero" from Footloose. Graveworm puts an entirely different and extreme spin on the song, and it works pretty well. You could say the same for the entire album. Graveworm takes a lot of disparate elements and puts them together with their unique approach with excellent results.
