Grief Of War - A Mounting Crisis...As Their Fury Got Released

Prosthetic Records
Grief Of War is a thrash metal band from Tokyo, Japan. Their popularity has been growing in their native country, and now they will get more exposure throughout the rest of the world. Their debut album was released in Japan back in 2005 and is now getting a North American release through Prosthetic Records.

A Mounting Crisis...As Their Fury Got Released is pure old-school thrash that sounds like it is from the '80s. The band's self-described "Samurai Crunch" features dual guitars playing high speed riffs and solos. The band plays with a lot of energy and is dramatically influenced by bands such as Slayer, Testament, Exodus and Megadeth.

There's a thrash revival going on, but Grief Of War is not playing thrash with a new twist. They are pure Bay Area '80s style thrash metal. A Mounting Crisis...As Their Fury Got Released is a well-done throwback with some catchy songs, but there's not much new or original here.

(released February 19, 2008 on Prosthetic Records)
