Himsa - Summon In Thunder

Himsa - Summon In Thunder

Century Media Records
It's been an eventful year for Himsa. The Seattle, Washington based band switched record labels and are now on Century Media. They also welcomed back guitarist Sammi Curr after a one album absence.

An all-star production team was assembled for Summon In Thunder, including producer Steve Carter, who produced Himsa's 2003's album Courting Tragedy And Disaster. Devin Townsend was brought in to produce the vocals, and Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Dark Tranquillity, Halford) did the mixing and mastering.

Curr's return is most evident in the improved songwriting on the album. He and fellow guitarist Kirby Johnson do some serious shredding on this one. The songs are intense American style thrash metal with catchy riffs and plenty of melody. They also vary the tempos a little better than they have in the past so the songs don't all run together.

Johnny Pettibone's vocals are fierce. His aggressive yelling add just the passion and edge that the songs need. Summon In Thunder is a strong album, one that both old school and new school fans can appreciate.
