Horse The Band - A Natural DeathKoch Records
They've been around for a while now, and Horse The Band has been surprisingly polarizing. They seem like fun guys, their live shows are energetic, and they definitely have a sense of humor. But when it comes to their music, there's not a lot of middle ground. There are those that just don't get their sound, while others eat it up.

Their latest CD, A Natural Death, treads down the same experimental metalcore road they've been down before. Horse The Band is best known for their keyboards, which sound like a retro '80s video game and is why some call their music nintendocore. The keyboards are still there, but not featured quite as prominently as on their past albums.

Their sound can be very heavy with the traditional metalcore breakdowns, but they also use a lot of unconventional song structures and elements that are interesting and original. You'll hear both catchy melodic vocals, harsh yelling vocals and gang choruses. Fans of Horse The Band will appreciate this CD, but it's not likely to draw a lot of new converts.
