I - Between Two WorldsNuclear Blast
Since the demise of black metal legends Immortal a couple years ago Abbath has kept busy by singing in a Motorhead tribute band. He has put together a new band featuring guitarist Ice Dale (Enslaved), bassist T.C. King (Gorgoroth), drummer Armagedda (Immortal) and lyricist Demonaz (Immortal).

I has a lot of black metal elements, but is much more than a straight ahead black metal band. Between Two Worlds incorporates a lot of very melodic riffs and '80s style thrash solos with darker and more menacing grooves. Blackened traditional metal would be an accurate description of the band's sound.

Abbath's vocals on the album range from black metal rasps to aggressive spoken word vocals to melodic singing that sounds a lot like Lemmy. Between Two Worlds is an excellent CD that's dark and melodic with outstanding musicianship and should appeal not only to black metal fans, but to traditional metal fans as well.
