As Our Army Grows is typical power metal with plenty of guitar solos and a lot of melody. Their sound may remind you of groups like Iced Earth, Iron Maiden and Nevermore. Intense has done a nice job making their songs memorable. There's an abundance of hooks, and you'll find yourself singing or humming along to the choruses after a listen or two. The guitar work isn't over the top, but there's plenty of room for Nick Palmer and Dave Peak to show their chops.
I really like Sean Hetherington's vocals. His voice is strong with good range and a lot of expression, and he avoids the pitfall of taking things too far and sounding cheesy and pretentious. This is an album power metal fans will be able to sink their teeth into.
