Into Eternity - The Scattering Of Ashes

Into Eternity - The Scattering Of AshesCentury Media Records
On their latest album Into Eternity weaves back and forth between melody and brutality. They've had a couple lineup changes since 2004's Buried In Oblivion, and the addition of vocalist Stu Block and bassist Troy Bleich has made a good band even better.

Into Eternity's musicianship is outstanding. They are equally adept at precise technical metal with power metal overtones or a more aggressive and intense traditional metal style. They run the gamut from thrash to power to progressive to death.

The vocals are also extraordinarily diverse. Tim Roth does the death style vocals and Block the clean vocals. Block is able to sing in a regular melodic voice, a stronger power metal voice, and an extremely high Halfordesque wail. The only thing stopping The Scattering Of Ashes from being an exceptional album is the lack of memorable hooks and choruses. The musical and vocal skill is there, they just need a few more monster hooks to take a very good release to the next level.
