The Swedish band Katatonia has been around since the early '90s and have released some outstanding albums. Their last studio CD, 2006's The Great Cold Distance received rave reviews and landed on many year end lists.
Live Consternation was recorded at the Summerbreeze Open Air Festival in Germany in 2006. It's a DVD of the concert and a companion audio CD. The band was limited to 11 songs, and focused mainly on new material, but did play some older songs as well.
Both the video and audio quality is good. The band sounds great, and the camera shots move around enough to get a good picture of the whole experience. There are a few visual effects, but nothing too distracting. Overall it is a very solid CD/DVD that accurately captures the band's sound and vibe.
