L'Esprit Du Clan - Chapitre III: Corpus Delicti

About.com Rating threehalf out of Five

By Chad Bowar, About.com

L'Esprit Du Clan is probably not familiar to most North American metal fans. The French metallic hardcore band has been around for a while, but Chapitre III: Corpus Delicti is their first North American release.

The French metal scene is really growing, with bands like Gojira leading the way. L'Esprit Du Clan is very popular in their homeland, and it's easy to hear why. Chapitre III: Corpus Delicti is packed with well-written songs that are crunchy and technical with clever solos and memorable riffs.

L'Esprit Du Clan's vocals are in their native French. French is such a flowery language, and the vocals are harsh and guttural, which sounds a bit odd. Still, that is something that sets them apart from other bands, and in metalcore that can only be a positive thing.
