The Swedish black metal band Lord Belial has been doing their thing since the early '90s. Their seventh full-length features guitarist Niclas Andersson, who returns to the fold after an absence of a few years. That means the original lineup of Thomas, Micke and Anders Backelin along with Andersson are back together again.
Revelation: The 7th Seal is an excellent black metal album. Lord Belial blends bludgeoning darkness and an ominous atmosphere with plenty of melody. The tempos of the songs are mainly mid-tempo, which allows the band to methodically crush the listener with their heaviness.
The songs are really well-written with riffs and melodies that stick with you long after the music stops. The vocals are mainly harsh black metal rasps, but you'll also hear some melodic singing. Lord Belial are an underrated band who have delivered another superb melodic black metal album.
