The Machete is a five piece band from Finland, and Untrue is their second album. There are a lot of different styles and genres on display here, including thrash metal, metalcore, death metal, and rock and roll.
The Machete are at their strongest on the more aggressive and intense songs. The best songs on this album have groovy thrash riffs and catchy melodies with a combination of death metal growls and melodic singing/yelling.
Those types of songs are in the majority on this album, but there are a couple tracks that try to be more accessible, mellower and mainstream and aren't as effective. Overall, though, this is a diverse and engaging album.
