Machinae Supremacy - Overworld

Spinefarm Records
Machinae Supremacy is a Swedish band who garnered a lot of online popularity and eventually released and distributed their 2006 debut album on their own. A few months later they were signed to Spinefarm Records and the CD received a worldwide release. The band produced their second album, but it was mixed by Fredrik Nordstrom (Arch Enemy, Opeth, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir).

Overworld combines traditional metal with a lot of electronic elements and plenty of melody. The songs have catchy guitar riffs that are accented by but never overwhelmed by various keyboards and synths. The keyboards often have a video game style sound to them (similar to Horse The Band) that add a pop vibe to the songs.

Even though it's a bit gimmicky, even without the video game keyboards the songs would hold up well on their own. They have good riffs and catchy choruses, and the synths give Machinae Supremacy a very distinctive sound.
