Machinery - The Passing

Regain Records
Machinery is a Swedish band that formed in 2001. They recorded a couple of demos, and then their debut CD came out in 2006 on a small label. Their sophomore effort will receive a worldwide release through Regain Records.

The Passing is a combination of many different genres. Machinery mixes thrash, death and traditional metal into an appealing package. Some of the songs are brutal and heavy with heavy guitars and an ominous atmosphere. Others are very melodic and accessible with memorable hooks. Machinery does a nice job making the various styles meld together smoothly without sounding schizophrenic.

The vocals are also very diverse. The heavier songs utilize death metal growls, while the more accessible tracks have melodic singing, and yet others have both styles. The Passing has clever songwriting, excellent musicianship, creative solos and a lot of variety.

(released June 10, 2008 on Regain Records)
