There were some lineup changes for this release. Drummer Joakim "Grave" Göthberg also took on vocal duties. B. War was brought in to play bass.
Those Of The Unlight saw Marduk shift toward straight black metal with fewer death metal influences. They have some really melodic riffs on this album, and most of the songs get into a really crushing groove.
The vocals are harsh and rough, but the production is surprisingly clean. This CD was an improvement in all areas for Marduk. The songs were better and more memorable, the musicianship was better, and the vocals were more evil. The band's sound got even more brutal over the years, but their second album is definitely a keeper.
