II combines metal with southern rock and hardcore. The songs are swampy and sludgy, and having the triple guitars allow for simultaneous thick, chunky riffs and creative solos. The guitars take center stage, but the rhythm section is also rock solid.
Taylor's vocals are an enigma. His main style is a raspy yell, which is ok for awhile, but gets grating in a hurry. In parts of some songs he sings melodically in a regular voice, which is much better than the yelling. A little more singing and a little less yelling would have made a decent album even better.
